Burleigh Heads: 2nd Avenue Beachside Apartments

2nd Avenue Beachfront Apartments offer families a range of self-contained apartments, starting with the more affordable 2-bedroom, 1 bathroom option through to a 4-bedroom penthouse with its own roof top pool!

  • But what they all have in common is the family friendly Burleigh Heads location (across the road from the beach and parklands) and great facilities to keep the kids entertained even in rainy weather.

Having previously spent holidays with our kids in the heart of Surfers Paradise, this time we decided to base ourselves in a quieter location. We decided on Burleigh Heads.

Research narrowed down our choice to two properties, but as one had a 5 night minimum for the school holidays and as we only wanted 3 nights, our choice was made - 2nd Avenue Beachside Apartments. And what a great choice it was.

2nd Avenue Apartments are located on the Esplanade at Burleigh Heads (although the entry is via Second Avenue), with the beach and parklands just across the road.

We opted for a cheaper rate 2-bedroom apartment (located on levels 1-4), which cost less because they do not have the extensive sea views of the higher levels. But that did not worry us.

In such managed apartment complexes, apartments can vary as they are individually owned, but ours was bright and spacious, featuring open plan living and dining, with a wrap-around balcony facing the sea.

The leather modular lounge was large enough for all of us, while a galley style kitchen had all the accessories for a comfortable self-contained holiday.

The main bedroom was spacious with an en-suite, with a separate shower and spa bath. The second bedroom was serviced by another bathroom, with a shower over the bath. The separate laundry had a washing machine and dryer.

So, what did my family like about 2nd Avenue? The indoor pool and spa meant we could swim when it was too cold to use the lovely outdoor pool. Although the evenings were too cold to enjoy them, there were also some bbq huts around the beautiful gardens.

Each apartment has a PS3 - games as well as DVDs are available from a large DVD library at reception. There is a playground and small corner shop across the road, while the main Burleigh Heads shopping strip is about a 10 minute walk away.

Add secure parking, lovely public areas, with little touches such as foyer music during the day, and we were left feeling like we'd stayed somewhere special.

Note: Our accommodation was independently booked and paid for. Views are my own.
