More traditionally known for its winter wonders, Mt Baw Baw is beautiful at any time of year. And EdSki is a cheap, comfortable option for families wanting to explore the area.

As Victoria's smallest ski resort, Mt Baw Baw has not been subjected to the same environmental impacts as some other larger resorts. As a result it's great to visit outside the ski season and if the weather is clear you get terrific views into the Latrobe Valley and West Gippsland.

EdSki is next to the main car park and has a number of dorm-style rooms in various configurations from doubles up to five. At $25/night per adult & $15 for kids (summer rate)it's terrific value.

EdSki is a bit old and daggy, but clean and well-situated with large picture windows. It has a large shared kitchen with all pots, pans, plates and cutlery supplied. There's also a pool table, books, games, table tennis table and downstairs TV room.

As it's a ski lodge, there's also a drying room, though you do have to wheel or carry your luggage about 50m cross country through the bush from the carpark.

For summer use (we were there at Easter) there are many walks in the high country after which we were pleased to find a couple of cafes open (Kelly's and Village Central) each providing coffees, food and alcohol at reasonable prices.

A new road to Mt Baw Baw (South Face Road) opened in recent years and is a good, though unsealed, alternative to the road from Noojee. If you use it - drive to Moe, head for Erica/Rawson and follow the signs.

Kid's Comments:
Lots to do and other kids to play with.
