A taste of provincial France just outside Hobart. Grapevines, olive groves and its waterside location make it a scenic destination for the whole family. Whether you do ‘laid back' or ‘adventurous' is in your hands.

I stayed here (Seymour Cottage) for two nights with the kids in the middle of winter while visiting a friend.

These cottages are beautiful, but with the shabby chic designs, not too precious to make you nervous with the kids.

Located on a lovely estuary, there is so much for the family to explore – or for dad and the kids to explore while mum relaxes in the huge clawfoot bath!

The main bed was incorporated into the living area, but tucked away around the corner, it worked. There was a separate bedroom with two single beds – perfect for the kids.

Apart from the wonderful location that offers city kids a perfect escape, children are well catered for inside as well, with board games in the wardrobe. We also found buckets and spades for the estuary beach.

A few minutes down the road you will find Putt & Play mini-golf – a few minutes the other way is the historic township of Richmond. My kids loved the maze and a visit to the old jail.

Things to note: The estate is a working vineyard, so if the machinery is operating, you will need to be vigilant with your children.

Kid's Comments:
We rode on our bikes and scooters. It was awesome. There is also a beach at the end of the track. We stepped on the stones so we didn't get wet. Go to the Richmond maze.
